Overview of aids available for Parisians in 2026

Taking the licence in Paris in 2026 costs on average €2,300. But the majority of candidates are unaware that they are potentially eligible for several aids which, combined, can cover 50 to 80% of the budget. This guide exhaustively lists all aids available for inner-Paris residents in 2026, with eligibility conditions, amounts and procedures to carry out.

Important: most of these aids combine. The key is to build a complete file and anticipate delays (some schemes require 2 to 4 months of processing). Start your procedures as soon as you are considering taking the licence, not when registering at a driving school.

1. Île-de-France Region licence cheque (up to €1,000)

The flagship scheme since October 2024, officially called LABAZ permis. It is a regional aid of €1,000 paid in two instalments of €500. The first upon registration at the driving school, the second after obtaining the code.

2026 eligibility conditions: be aged 18 to 25 inclusive, reside in Île-de-France for at least 6 months, prepare the B licence at a partner driving school, family quotient less than €13,000 annually. Procedure: deposit on iledefrance.fr (Youth Aids space), response within 30 days, direct payment to the driving school.

2. City of Paris aid (up to €500)

The City of Paris does not directly pay a licence aid like some municipalities, but it finances integration paths via its Youth Spaces and Parisian Local Missions (Mission Locale Paris Centre, Paris Est, Paris Soleil, etc.). These structures can mobilize occasional aids of €300 to €500 for a licence necessary for employment.

2026 conditions: be aged 16 to 25, be followed by a Parisian local mission, demonstrate that the licence is essential for a professional project. Procedure: make an appointment with your local mission advisor, prepare a file with job promise or alternating contract.

3. Pôle Emploi (France Travail) aid for jobseekers

Since 2024, France Travail (formerly Pôle Emploi) has raised its licence aid for registered jobseekers. Maximum amount: €1,200. Paid in 2 instalments (50% at registration, 50% at code obtaining).

2026 conditions: be registered at France Travail for at least 6 months without interruption, demonstrate that the absence of licence is a barrier to employment, have a validated professional project. Procedure: talk to your France Travail advisor, build a file with CV, cover letter, supporting documents.

4. Personal Training Account (CPF): up to €500

Any employee or former employee accumulates CPF rights usable to finance the B licence since 2017. Average amount available: €500 for an employee for 5 years. Usable only for B and heavy goods categories, not for code alone.

2026 conditions: have worked at least 6 cumulated months, demonstrate that the licence is necessary for a concrete professional project. Procedure: log in to moncompteformation.gouv.fr, choose a CPF-certified driving school (most are in 2026), follow the online procedure.

5. Licence at €1 per day (zero-rate loan)

Not a direct aid but a zero-rate loan of €600 to €1,200 depending on your situation. Interest is covered by the State. You repay €30 per month (i.e. €1 per day). Accessible to 15-25 year-olds and apprentices up to 30 years.

2026 conditions: be between 15 and 25 years old (30 for apprentices), not be filed with Banque de France, present a driving school partner of the scheme. Procedure: register at a labeled driving school, then deposit the file at a partner bank (Banque Populaire, Crédit Agricole, BPCE essentially).

6. Departmental aid for apprentices

Since 2019, an aid of €500 is paid to apprentices over 18 preparing the B licence. Paid directly by the Agence de Services et de Paiement (ASP) to the driving school.

2026 conditions: be an apprentice on an apprenticeship contract (not a professionalization contract), be aged at least 18, be engaged in training at a driving school. Procedure: Cerfa form to request from your OPCO or employer.

7. OPCO and employer aids

Some OPCOs (AKTO, OPCO 2i, AFDAS, etc.) finance the licence for their employees as part of skills development. Amounts vary from €300 to €1,500. Some large Parisian companies have company agreements including this type of financing. Inquire with your HR department.

8. Aid for people with disabilities

People recognized as disabled workers (RQTH) can benefit from an AGEFIPH aid up to €1,500 for the B licence, plus possible extra costs (vehicle adaptations, adapted lessons). Procedure: file to build with the AGEFIPH Île-de-France referent.

How to effectively combine these aids?

Realistic example of a Parisian candidate aged 22, employee for 3 years on permanent contract, family QF €10,000: Region licence cheque €1,000 + CPF €400 + licence at €1 per day €800 = €2,200 mobilizable. On a total budget of €2,300, the remaining cost becomes €100. It is exceptional but not rare for candidates who take the time to build a complete file.
