Taking the driving test in Avignon means adapting to a mid-sized Vaucluse town of around 92,200 inhabitants, prefecture of department 84 and historic City of the Popes. The commune is part of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and remains one of the main tourist and cultural hubs of the Rhône valley, marked by its 14th-century ramparts surrounding the intra-muros. The Charles-de-Gaulle ring road loops the town outside the walls, and the Daladier, Édouard-Daladier and de l'Europe bridges cross the Rhône to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon (Gard, right bank).
